Injury Updates - Oct 2nd, 2010

Sidney Crosby sat out last night's game due to a hip injury that's been bothering him for a week... if you drafted him today then you're f**ked.  Check that, actually, it's just a precautionary thing, he's day-to-day, should be fine.

Here's one for you... Vinny Prospal is still dealing with a knee injury that dogged him last season, he hasn't played in a pre-season game yet and now the Rangers are going to shut him down for the next three weeks and it means he could miss the first month of the season.

Brian Campbell also left last night's game early for the Hawks with a leg injury and Tim Sassone is reading the tea leaves as saying that it could be serious.  He'll be re-evaluated today. [more]

More after the jump...

Robbie Schremp left last night's game with a groin injury, apparently re-aggravating an injury from a week ago.  So if you're into "Rob Schremp Hockey" then you might want to worry about this, but if you're into "Rob Schremp Hockey" then we're already worried about you.

Todd Bertuzzi missed last night's game with a sore back and when this guy starts whinging about soreness then you have to be concerned cause you never know when something minor like this might turn into weeks on the shelf.

We wouldn't normally mention an injury to Ales Kotalik as nobody should really be relying on this clown but he has looked good in the pre-season and is leading the Flames in scoring so far (3+2=5 in four games)... so we'll mention that he left last night's game early with a LBI... we should find out more about that shortly.

Great quote from Coach Bruce when discussing the mystery injury that has kept Semyon Varlamov out of all but 30 minutes of action in the pre-season:

"Varly's history is he's gotten hurt in the pre-season and it's taken him a month and a half to get back.  We don't want that situation to be the same."

... well put.
