Daily Dosage - Oct 31st, 2010

Alright, it was a busy night with 14 games and I was out a little too late, so we're going rapid fire with the fantasy news today...

Niclas Bergfors has been a healthy scratch three times this year but he now has goals in three straight and points in four straight.  He's one of the guys on ATL that has some pure finishing ability so we still like him to put up some decent numbers this year.

Alex Pietrangelo played a team high 27:56 last night and chipped in with an assist, plus-2 & seven shots.  He's played over 23 minutes in the past three games, the Colaiacovo injury must have something to do with it.  He's off to a decent start this year with four assists and a plus-6 through his first nine games but the increase in ice-time is very encouraging.

Sergei Bobrovsky has started and won three straight for the Flyers including back-to-back (Friday & Saturday)... he's now 5-2-0 with a 2.44 & .917 to start the year.

Justin Williams had another two points last night and has 3+3=6 during a five games point streak.  We don't recommend him long-term as he's too fragile but he could be a nice short-term pickup.

Tim Thomas may just be unbeatable this year... he had another shutout last night and he's up to three of those, six wins and only three goals allowed on the season.

We've had a few emails lately asking us what's wrong with the Caps and our response was "nothing" & "just be patient"... well last night is what we were waiting for as Nicklas Backstrom had four points while Ovechkin, Semin & Green all had three each.

Ryan Callahan scored on a penalty shot last night and that gives him goals in four straight and 4+5=9 with 26 shots in his last six games.

Jiri Hudler was a healthy scratch last night for the Wings... slow start for him with only three assists in his first eight games.  We're not big fans of him from a fantasy perspective as he doesn't give you much in the way of shots, plus/minus, PIMs or even goals... although we did think he'd be a little more productive than he is right now.

Luke Adam has been called back up by the Sabres to replace the injured Nathan Gerbe... Adam is the leading rookie scorer in the AHL right now with 6+7=13 in nine games.

Jay McClement had a hat-trick last night for the Blues... don't pick him up.

Dion Phaneuf only has four assists through his first 10 games but after putting seven shots on net last night he is on pace for 295 this year... be patient, he'll get a goal or two if the keeps firing the puck like this.

Remember when Blake Comeau was all the rage to start the year?... well he's 0+2=2 with a minus-6 in his last seven games.

Remember Derek Stepan's opening night hat-trick?... well he's only got two assists in his last nine games and saw his ice-time dip below 10 minutes for the first time last night.

Two goals last night for Pascal Dupuis and he has four in his last six games to go along with 10 PIMs.

Two assists last night for Claude Giroux and he has three straight two pointers and is looking like he's having the breakout season that we were hoping for.

Milan Lucic scored again last night and has 4+4=8 so far with points in seven of his eight games.

In what will likely be one of the worst goaltending matchups we'll see this season, Andrew Raycroft out-sucked Patrick Lalime and actually posted a 34 save shutout of the Sabres... don't pick either of these guys up.

Steve Mason was pulled last night after giving up four goals on 19 shots in 30 minutes.  He has four wins in eight starts but his averages (3.30 & .894) are currently worse than last season's... and that's not easy to do.
