Reports say that Vinny Prospal's knee injury may be worse than the team is letting on and there's a possibility that he'll need season ending surgery... there's a situation you're just better off avoiding.

The Stars Brenden Morrow has a sore back that's been limiting his prep time lately... he's expected to be good to go for the regular season but he's been known to be a little fragile so we'd keep an eye on this.

Milan Hejduk is also dealing with a sore back.  He's listed as day-to-day, not sure if he'll be ready for the season opener but this is a troubling sign as he's had issues with his back in the past and went through a tough season with various injuries last year.

Chris Pronger didn't play in the pre-season at all as he's still recovering from offseason knee surgery but he's been practicing and it's sounding like he might be ready for opening day or shortly thereafter.

Nick Backstrom skipped the Caps final pre-season game yesterday with a boo-boo on his leg but he'll be ready when the real games start... dude hasn't missed a regular season game in his three year NHL career.
