Injury Updates - Oct 9th, 2010

Ondrej Pavelec collapsed just minutes into last night's game and was taken from the ice unconscious.  He was awake and alert shortly thereafter but they kept him in hospital overnight to run some tests... he'll likely be evaluated over the next few days... that was a scary one.

The Flyers Mike Leighton will have back surgery and will be out for 6-8 weeks... so this just keeps getting worse and now Leighton has revealed that this injury may have first occurred during last year's playoffs.  If you took a chance on Leighton (I did) then you'll be looking for another option today... here's a couple of guys who are available in most leagues: Sergei Bobrovsky (29% owned in Yahoo!) and Michal Neuvirth (36% owned).

Jason Spezza sat out last night's game with that pesky groin injury... he's just listed as day-to-day and said that he won't be out longer than one or two games.

Jonathan Ericsson left last night's game early due to back spasms... he'll be re-evaluated today.

Andy Sutton broke his thumb in a fight last night and while that's not really fantasy news-worthy, if he misses some time then it will open up more ice-time for guys like Cam Fowler (who already played 21 minutes last night) and Luca Sbisa (scratched last night).
