Another goal last night for David Jones and he has 7+3=10 over his last 10 games and has an amazing 11 goals this year on only 46 shots (23.9% sh%).  Normally, we'd dismiss it and say that he can't keep anything close to that up but coming into this year he had scored on 16% of his shots through his first 90 NHL games, so he's proving to be quite the sniper.

I think Alex Pietrangelo is kinda flying under the radar as a breakout dman right now as he has 2+5=7 over his last six games and is on pace for 49 points this season.  Only three of his 14 points so far this year have come on the PP, so there's lots of room for growth as well (averages 2:49 /gm of PP time, 10th on the team).

Yes, I know what you're thinking... Dustin Byfuglien again???  But c'mon the dude had 1+1=2 with nine shots on goal last night and has 5+6=11 with a plus-7 & 35 shots during a six game point streak.  This is... I don't even know what to say... if you own him, you've basically won the fantasy lottery, well played.

We gave our initial thoughts on the Tomas Fleischmann trade yesterday and after hearing that Avs coach Joe Sacco plans to use him on the line with Stastny & Hejduk to start, we like this move even more for Flash.  Sacco seems to get a lot out of his players and he's also not one of these coaches that shuffles his lines every few shifts, so look for Flash to get an extended run on the top line and we can envision him producing right away... similar to Peter Mueller after his trade last year.

Kevin Shattenkirk extended his point streak to seven games with another PP assist last night... this kid is incredible and now has 4+6=10 over his last seven games and while we liked him heading into this year, his slow start in the AHL (no points in 10 games) concerned us a little but we're kicking ourselves that he didn't start recommending him to you off the hop.

Matt Hunwick's first game for the Avs was pretty uneventful... 16:52 of ice-time, with a little PP time, 2 shots and a minus-1... with the trade of Hannan, we now see where Hunwick fits in but we think he's down the pecking order for prime opportunities with Colorado.

David Backes with 1+3=4 last night and he has 3+9=12, plus-5, 14 PIMs & 19 shots over his last 10 games... he's a fantastic all-around fantasy contributor who really does it all.

Caught some of the Hawks game and when you score seven goals, a lot of guys are going to have good nights... Viktor Stalberg had two assists and so I was looking into him a little bit but those were actually his first points in his last seven games and he only has 2+2=4 to show for his last 11.  I still like him for the future but you'll need to give him some time.

First NHL point last night for Jeremy Morin (in his third NHL game), although it was a total fluke.  He did drop the gloves later to show the team how badly he wants to stick around.  He's a great guy to own in keeper leagues as the kid just scores goals wherever he plays.

Have to admit that I hadn't seen much of Corey Crawford so far this year but dude was a rebound factory from what I saw last night and not surprised that he gave up five goals on 26 shots.  He did get another win though, his fifth in a row but we would bet Marty Turco gets the call for the Hawks next game.

Tomas Kopecky exploded for 1+3=4 last night... he needed that as he's been pretty brutal lately with 1+2=3 and a minus-14 in the 18 games prior to last night.  Hopefully you traded this guy after his unsustainable start to the season... not a fan.

It was also a four point night for Henrik Zetterberg... the dude is good if you didn't know that already.

PPG/GWG last night for Shea Weber and hopefully that will calm some GMs who have been fired up about his struggles this year... hang in there.

Benn Ferriero has goals in back-to-back games for the Sharks and he's seeing some time on the 2nd line.  He's proven to be a pretty productive player in the AHL over the past two seasons, so he's worth keeping an eye on.

With three regular dmen out for San Jose, Justin Braun has filled in and has three points in his last two games.  He was a pretty decent offensive dman in college at UMass, so there's potential there but we don't expect him to be in the NHL for long this year.

Nikolai Kulemin with a nice night for the Leafs as he had two goals, six PIMs and 6 sogs.  He has 5+1=6 with 31 shots over his last seven games.  He plays a pretty steady, hard-working game so you know what you're going to get from him.

Simon Gagne was back in the lineup after missing 18 games with a neck injury and he had the OT GWG to go along with an assist and those were actually his first two points on the year.  I think he's a huge injury risk but the guy can put the puck in the net, so proceed with caution.

The Senators have waived Brian Lee, we'll see if anyone takes a shot on the 23-year old, former 9th overall pick... but regardless he's never looked like much of a fantasy option.
