Corey Perry likely won the week for a few GMs last night (I was on the opposite end of it... dammit) as he went off with 3+2=5, PPG, SHG, plus-4 with six shots... this guy is one of my favs so I can't hold it against him.  He's on pace for 39+47=86 with 116 PIMs & 275 shots and sits seventh in league scoring, 14th in shots and amongst the top 50 scorers in the league, only Briere has more PIMs.

If it wasn't for Perry's explosion then Brandon Dubinsky would have had the fantasy line of the night as he had 1+1=2, plus-4, three shots and then capped off the Gordie Howe Hat-Trick by scrapping with Ovechkin (bonus points!).  Dubie is a poor man's Corey Perry as he's on pace for 35+33=68, 102 PIMs & 187 shots.

Marc Staal with 1+1=2 & plus-3 last night and he's been picking up his production lately with 3+5=8 over his last 10 games.  His ice-time is always huge as he's averaging 24:42 for the season but he's seen a jump in his PP time lately as over the past five games he's averaging 4:23 /gm.

Another Ranger worth mentioning (funny how that happens after a 7-nil win) is Brandon Prust as he was 1+1=2, GWG, plus-2 & 10 PIMs.  He's really only useful if you're after the PIMs but over his last 10 games he's been giving his owners a little bonus with 4+3=7 & plus-4 in addition to 26 PIMs.

Yikes... Semyon Varlamov gave up all seven goals last night and now has lost his last three starts.  Neuvirth hasn't been much better lately so these guys are pretty much back to a stalemate after Varlamov looked to be gaining momentum with his four game winning streak after recovering from his groin injury.

Bad time for Niklas Backstrom's game to be imploding as Jose Theodore is starting to put the heat on him in M'sota.  Backstrom gave up six goals on 36 shots last night and has allowed 5+ goals in four of his last six starts and is 1-4-1, 4.80 & .859 over that stretch.

Brent Burns scored last night and has goals in three straight games.  After two straight injury-plagued seasons, he's getting back to the form of his breakout 2007/08 campaign when he had 43 points.  He's on pace for 26+23=49 with 115 PIMs & 151 shots right now.

The Habs sent David Desharnais back down and called-up Max Pacioretty who is the AHL's leading goal scorer this year with 17+15=32 in 27 games.  He's playing with a lot of confidence right now so we'll see if that will carry over to the NHL.

The Islanders have called-up Rhett Rakhshani, he's their leading scorer in Bridgeport with 10+14=24 in 27 games.  He had a productive 4-year college career at Denver and is worth keeping an eye on... unfortunately he'll be playing for the Islanders.

Reports out of Russia say that Evgeni Nabokov is going to have his KHL contract terminated due to "family reasons"... we'll have to wait and see what this is all about but he hasn't been playing very well over there as he is 8-8-5, 3.02 & .888 through 22 games.
