Johan Franzen snapped a mini-slump (zero points in last four) with 1+1=2, 3 shots and 2 PIM's last night.  His ppg are down a tad from the last two years.  But more importantly he's been healthy so far this year as he's played all but one game so far.  Keep those fingers crossed, Franzen owners.

Chris Osgood started his seventh game of the year last night (just his third in the last 23 games) and he was looking for his 400th career win.  He didn't get it as he gave up the winning goal in OT to....

... Loui Eriksson who also added two assists.  The three point game puts him over a point-a-game pace and it looks like he'll improve on his ppg numbers for the 5th straight year.  We picked him as our #1 superstar breakout in the Breakout Bible, so we're loving this.  The only thing we worry about is what happens to his numbers if Brad Richards gets moved.

After Michal Neuvirth got the start Saturday night, I assumed Semyon Varlamov would get the nod last night and set my lineups accordingly.  Well Bruce Boudreau appartently likes to mess with fantasy owners as Neuvirth got the rare B2B starts. It worked out well as Neuvirth stopped 24 of 26 for the W... nothing breaks a slump like a game against the Sens.

The offensive star in the Caps win was none other than Alex Ovechkin... oh wait, sorry my mistake, he was goaless again and now has only three goals in his last 17 games (he did pick up an assist though).  Mathieu Perreault was the real star as he picked two goals (one on the PP).  He's normally more of a playmaker but the tiny forward now has 4+0=4 in six games since his call up.  I don't think he's the solution for the Caps 2nd line but he might be a decent gamble for those of you in deep league for the short term as he's had some decent AHL and good QMJHL seasons.

Wayne Simmonds is starting to heat up.  He picked up a 1+1=2, +2 with 3 shots last night and now has six points in his last six games after a brutal stretch where he had only one point in 15 games.  He's playing with Kyle Clifford and Michal Handzus, which limits his value, but I like his potential to play at a 40-50 point & 100+ PIM pace.

Jonathan Toews is pretty damn hot right now... a 1+1=2 night gives him 13 points in his last nine games.

Oscar Moller got the call up for the Kings on Dec 10th, scored three points in four game but was healthy scratched last night.  With Brad Richardson back, expect Moller to be sent back down to the minors soon.

Read somewhere (can't remember where so I can't link) that in practice the Pens had Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin playing on different lines again.  Damn.  I'm an owner of Geno so I'm keeping a real close eye on how much he plays on the wing.  If Yahoo! ever gives him winger eligibility his value skyrockets.

Jiri Hudler was a healthy scratch last night so at least he didn't impact your plus-minus negatively.
