Today we'll take a look back at the last two weeks (that's a fortnight) and see who is hot and who is not. We're not just looking for who's hot or cold but who is playing above or below what we were expecting.
We divided things up into two posts. Apparently you readers don't have long attention spans or something. Click here to see who's COLD.
All statistics are up to Dec 22nd, 2010
Corey Perry : 8 gms with 7+6=13
This guy just keeps getter better and better. Last year he picked up 76 points, 111 PIM's and 270 shots. This year he's on pace for 88 points, 140 PIM's and 280 shots. With those peripherals he's arguably the best winger in the league.
Dustin Brown : 7 gms with 4+9=13
Dusty is quietly putting together his best fantasy season... by a lot. His 74 point pace would easily smash his career best of 60. Add in the 94 PIM's, 240 shots and the 282 hits he's on target for and you've got a stud on your hands. He's playing a bit over his head but you've got to love this start.
Ryan Kesler : 6 gms with 6+3=9
Kesler has been hot ever all year except for the one point the first six games start to the season. He's been a point-a-game player for the last 25 games and I can't see a reason why he can't keep that pace up. He's on target for just 68 points right now but he's got 75-80 point potential.
Anze Kopitar : 7 gms with 4+6=10
He's on pace for 86 points and almost 300 shots. He's been in the league for five years now so sometimes we forget he's just 23 years old... yeah he can get even better.
Pavel Datsyuk : 7 gms with 4+6=10
The last three years Datsyuk has picked up 97, 97 and 70 points. Looks like that 70 was a definite outlier as he's on pace for 99 this season.
Others playing well of late: Loui Eriksson, Ryan Getzlaf, Sidney Crosby, Martin St. Louis, Ryane Clowe, Paul Stastny, Evgeni Malkin, Tomas Fleischmann, Matt Duchene, Steven Stamkos, Derek Roy and Mikko Koivu,
Lubomir Visnovsky : 8 gms with 2+6=8
He appears healthy (which is a big thing for him) and is on pace for his best season since 2005-06. He's now tied for third in d-man scoring
Drew Doughty : 7 gms with 1+7=8
Injuries and ineffectiveness have killed Doughty and his owners this year... but lately it looks like the tide is turning. He had no points in 10 game before the streak listed above.
Keith Yandle : 6 gms with 1+6=7
Yandle looks like he's taken the next step forward. He's had 12, 30, 41 and is now on pace for 53 points. He currently sits 10th in d-man scoring. Just a note though, that plus-minus is a bit rough (-8).
Ryan Suter : 6 gms with 1+6=7
He's had 37 and 45 points the last two year but is owned in only 35% of Yahoo! leagues. He's a great buy-low candidate right now as he's back and healthy.
Erik Karlsson : 6 gms with 2+5=7
One of our top breakout picks of the year continues to shine as he's on pace for 47 points (much more than Gonchar).
Others playing well of late: Jack Johnson, Dustin Byfuglien, Stephane Robidas and Brent Burns
Bryan Bickell : 6 gms with 4+3=7
He's playing over his head and once Hossa and Kane return his PT should decrease. Ride the hot hand, but we wouldn't expect it to continue.
Kevin Shattenkirk : 7 gms with 1+4=5
He didn't get called up till Nov 4th but if you prorate his pace over 82 games he would put up 68 points. He doesn't have any points in the last two games but he's been one of the biggest surprises of this fantasy season.
Evgeni Dadonov : 5 gms with 2+3=5
Six points in six games after a hot start in the AHL. He's playing with Marty Reasoner and Shawn Matthias so a point-a-game pace doesn't seem likely to continue.
Jonas Hiller : 4 wins 1.5 gaa & 0.955 sv%
I had no idea Hiller was doing so well this year... his current hot streak has really driven him up the rankings. He's tied for third in the league with 16 wins and has a 2.57 gaa and a .923 sv%
Anders Lindback : 5 wins 1.55 gaa & 0.942 sv%
The honeymoon might be over for Lindback as Rinne is expected back this week but at the very least he's earned himself more PT than what anybody was expecting this season.
Roberto Luongo : 5 wins 1.76 gaa & 0.915 sv%
Lou is back to his old self and most importantly he's started 13 of the last 14 games
Brian Boucher : 4 wins 1.32 gaa & 0.953 sv%
What will the Flyers do? Boucher has been hot, Leighton is healthy and Bobrovsky has struggled a bit after a crazy hot start.
Tomas Vokoun, Cam Ward, Craig Anderson, Antero Niittymaki, Henrik Lundqvist, and Ondrej Pavelec
