Daily Dosage - Dec 5th, 2010

Sorry for the delay, we got off to a wee bit of a late start this morn...

Simon Gagne jumped up into Steve Downie's vacated wing spot on the top line with Stamkos & St.Louis and had a three pointer last night.  He played almost 18 minutes last night so the easing-him-back-in phase is over and he now has 2+3=5 in the three games since his return from that neck injury.

Ryan Malone has been filling in nicely for the Bolts while guys like Lecavalier, Gagne & Downie were/are out and Stamkos has slowed a little as Malone had another PPG (his fifth in his last nine games) to go along with an assist & nine sogs last night.  He now has 5+6=11 with 9 PIMs and 44 shots over his last 10 games.

I'm having this issue with Ondrej Pavelec where I'm still a little hesitant to start him against some of the big teams despite that fact that he's been nearly unbeatable lately... I sat him again last night against the Caps and that wasn't bright (luckily I replaced him with Elliott and his shutout) as he stopped 45 of 46 to beat them for the second time in a row and improved to 7-1-0 with a 1.13 & .966 over his last eight games.

Tomas Fleischmann played 19:39 last night for the Avs and got into the act with two assists in his second game with his new club... we envision him going on a nice run here so everyone climb aboard.

The amazing (Kevin) Shatten-streak continues as he had two more assists last night and is up to 4+9=13 during his nine game point streak.

A 32 save shutout from Ryan Miller last night gives him two straight blankings and he's on a nice run lately going 6-2-0 with a 1.72 & .944 over his last eight games and that's improved his sv% from .903 to .922 very quickly.

Mike Ribeiro extended his point streak to six games with another assist last night... he has 2+4=6 during the streak and he looks like he's on his way back to the 70 point level (on pace for 75) after slumping a little with only 53 in 66 games last season.

The Kings dman Alec Martinez had 1+1=2 last night and that added to the goal he scored in his first game this year (five games ago), so not a lot of results but he's one to keep an eye on if you need blueline help in a deep league.

Benn Ferriero tallied another goal last night and he has points in four straight (3+1=4) for the Sharks and has been getting some quality ice-time on the 2nd line with Couture & Clowe lately.

Ilya Kovalchuk scored yesterday, his first goal in nine games and only his 5th on the season... but just to counter-act a little encouraging news, he was a minus-3 as well.  He's on pace for 16 goals this year, which for a guy who hasn't had less than 41 in a season since the lockout is beyond horrendously horrible.

The young Oilers continue to roll as Taylor Hall had the OT winner last night to give him 6+2=8 over his last nine games, Sam Gagner extended his point-streak to five games where he has 3+4=7 and even Magnus Paajarvi has an assist in three straight games.

Tyler Seguin is not playing a ton but he's getting a regular shift and playing typically around 11-12 minutes a night and so the Bruins squashed the rumours that they might release him to play in the WJCs.

Patrick O`Sullivan was a healthy scratch last night for the Wild, so that didn't take long although he hasn't been totally awful with 1+2=3 in his first six games for M'sota.

P.K. Subban was a healthy scratch for the second straight game for the Habs... he'll be back in the lineup soon and while his production has slowed lately, please don't lose patience as this guy is still on pace for 28 pts, 86 PIMs & 220 shots, and those aren't numbers that you just throw away.

Also a healthy scratch last night was Anton Stralman as he only has six assists this season and was a minus-6 over his last four games... he hasn't done a lot to win over the new coaching staff this year and isn't nearly as effective as last year when he had a little breakout with 34 points.
