Anton Babchuk is a hard one to figure out... dude is supposed to be a PP specialist with a big shot and yet he's only averaging 2:17/gm on the PP with five PPPs and has 30 shots in 27 games with the Flames... despite that, and not playing that much (averages 15:27/gm), he's on fire right now with 2+7=9 & plus-5 over his last nine games.

Nice stretch for Kimmo Timonen across the board as he has a five game point streak going with 1+5=6, plus-6, six PIMs & 10 shots during the streak.

Wow, feast or famine for Dwayne Roloson with the Bolts as he gave up four goals on nine shots and took the loss against NJ... he has a 0.33 gaa & .989 sv% in three wins for Tampa but a 12.86 & .719 in two losses... so the moral of the story is make sure you play him when he wins.

We've had some questions lately about Tomas Fleischmann so thought it was worth pointing out that even though we haven't been hyping him up like we were when he first went to Colorado, he's been very steady for the Avs and hasn't really let up... 20 pts in 21 games with his new team and 3+6=9 & 29 shots over his last 10 games.  Playing with guys like Duchene & Hejduk/Stewart/Jones, I don't see any reason this can't continue.

We've been talking up Danny Briere's crazy season but he's probably not getting enough love, so here's some more... goals in five straight with 6+4=10 (with three GWGs) and going back over his last 15 games he has 10+10=20.

Two goals last night for Ilya Kovalchuk and ignoring Lemaire's first two games behind the bench, Kovy now has 4+3=7 over his last seven under the new coach.

Been keeping an eye on Fedor Tyutin lately as he was available in a few leagues and he's had a nice run going... PPA & six shots last night gives him 2+6=8, four PPPs & 23 shots over his last 10 games.

Sergei Bobrovsky struggled in December (3-3-1, 3.48 & .892) but after stopping 27 of 29 for the win last night he's now won both his starts in January and it might be his turn to take the reigns as Boucher was roughed up in his last outing.

From the It Figures Department... Eric Fehr was being rewarded for some decent play of late (4+3=7 over his last eight games) and was put onto the Caps top line last night but then had to leave the game early due to a UBI.  Also, Mike Babcock said that Jimmy Howard would start the next six games so don't expect to see Joey MacDonald for a while, well Howard hurt his knee last night and Joey Mac had to fill in, stopping all 21 shots he faced but he took the SOL.

It hasn't been easy for Niclas Bergfors this year as he's been scratched a bunch and seen limited ice-time at other times but the one constant is that he just keep producing... after two assists last night, he now has a five game point streak going (2+4=6) and hasn't gone more than three games in a row without a point this season, that's pretty consistent.

The Leafs have sent James Reimer down to the AHL, so his little run is likely over (or temporarily on hold), and they called up Marcel Mueller, the rookie has been pretty good lately as he gets acclimated to North American hockey after only ever playing in the German league previously, as he has 5+9=14 in his last 15 games for the Marlies.

The Hurricanes Zac Dalpe had three goals in seven games during his latest recall but he's headed back to the AHL.

Just an FYI for fans of Tampa prospect Brett Connolly... he's hurt again and is expected to miss 3-6 weeks due to a knee injury.

Spin-o-rama's are taking over the world... Mikko Koivu with his take...

Btw... thanks to the NHL for the free GameCenter Live this season, much appreciated.... and blame them if the video doesn't work, here's the link.
