Tuesday's Daily Dosage - Budaj, Phaneuf, Holtby...

Peter Budaj stopped 21 of 24 for the victory over the Blues last night and the Avs situation is worth watching as while Budaj's numbers are a little scary (3.51 & .886), he is 3-1-1 over his last six games while Anderson is 3-7-1 over his last 11.  I don't think I'd add him unless you are a very frustrated and paranoid Craig Anderson owner.

We've been mentioning Alexander Edler's fine production lately and he just keeps getting better as he now has three two-pointers over his last four games (3+3=6 & 19 shots)... this has moved him into the top 10 in the league amongst dmen in points and shots.

Dion Phaneuf has assists in three straight games and maybe he's starting to wake up as he still only has 11 points on the season.  He's been shooting the puck more (or at least hitting the net more) lately as he has 26 shots over his last five games but I'm not sure how encouraging that is as he is dead last in the league in shooting percentage (for players with at least one goal) with only one goal on 101 shots.

Braden Holtby with another strong outing as he stopped 28 of 29 shots but took the loss in the shootout... he's now only allowed one goal in each of his last three starts.  I'm now starting to entertain the thought that he could take this job and run with it, I'd call it a longshot but stranger things have happened.

Kevin Shattenkirk is back on form lately as he extended his point streak to four games last night (2+3=5)... good to see as he seemed to hit the rookie wall there for a bit as he went 12 games prior to this with only one point.

It's been a disappointing season from Brandon Yip as I thought he had some breakout potential but he's been a healthy scratch numerous times lately.  Encouraging sign here as he had a strong performance last night with two goals, plus-1, four PIMs & six shots... so maybe this will be the start of something.

I'm really not a fan of David Legwand but he's actually been pretty good lately with 5+5=10 & plus-10 in 13 games since returning from an extended absence due to injury.  He's been logging some heavy minutes lately, playing a season high 23:09 last night (with 5:31 on the PP).

Jonathan Quick outdueled the league's top tender (Tim Thomas) last night stopping all 34 shots he faced for the shutout.  He's now started four straight and won back-to-back games so it appears as though he's re-established himself as the #1 after some questions a few weeks ago.

Kings rookie Andrei Loktionov scored in his third game since his recent recall... keep an eye on him as he's playing on the top line and #1 PP unit.

Another goal last night for Brendan Morrison and he has them in three straight with 3+2=5 over his last five games... he's worth a look as he's clicking on the Flames top line with Iginla & Tanguay right now.

Not sure what the issue is with Rene Bourque but this is getting ridiculous and he now has only 2+2=4 over his last 17 games and is taking a major step backwards after breaking out last season.

Joe Corvo with two PPPs last night and he's been getting it done lately with 1+12=13 (10 PPPs) & 39 shots over his last 14 games.  I like this guy as he's pretty consistent, he's on pace for 41 points this year and this would be his fifth time in the past six seasons with at least 37 points.

Tomas Vokoun appears to be feeling better so Jacob Markstrom has been sent back to the AHL.
