Dman Marc-Andre Bergeron signed as a free agent with the Lightning... I'm a big fan and if you were a reader going back to last season then you remember when I was telling everyone to grab him when he signed with the Habs, it got to the point where someone claimed I was "smokin his hog", I'm not sure what the even means but I can guess.  Here's what I like about MAB: In the five seasons since the lockout, he's never been lower than .35 ppg (a 29 point pace) and has averaged 16+24=40 /82gms over those five seasons... you can't find guys like this on the waiver wire in a lot of leagues.  He's a PP specialist, not sure where he fits in with Tampa but they're not signing him to be a shutdown guy so you can bet he'll get his chances.  Note: He's going down to the AHL to get in shape first and he'll need to clear waivers.

Dream TB debut for Dwayne Roloson as he stopped 34 shots to shutout the Capitals last night.  I think most fantasy GMs understood that this would be a great move for him and surely he's been scooped up in most leagues... if not then he should be this morning.  Just based on pure volume of shots you can see the benefits here as he goes from the Islanders who gave up an average of 32.1 spg to Tampa who are 2nd in the league at 27.6 per game.

Another solid outing for Semyon Varlamov as he dueled with Roloson and carried a shutout into OT before giving up the winning goal to St.Louis.  Varlamov is on a nice run as he's only allowed four goals over his last four starts but Coach Bruce has been quick to point out that the battle between he and Neuvirth will go down to the last quarter of the season before they likely decide on a #1 for the playoffs.

R.J. Umberger went on a 10 game point streak back in November before going dry for most of December... well he's building back up lately with goals in four straight and six in his last seven games.  He's on his regular somewhere-around-50-point pace.

Niklas Backstrom is nursing some sort of LBI so he's been watching from the bench for the past two games and he's seen Jose Theodore rack up back-to-back wins.  Theodore's been decent this year but he hasn't played well enough and Backstrom hasn't played poorly enough for this to be much of a controversy.

Shane Doan with two more points to maintain his loco point streak where he has 6+6=12 over his last seven.

We mentioned Scottie Upshall the other day and he had another goal last night, so he's on a four game point streak with 3+4=7... but he only played 9:34 last night and unless he was injured, that's a little annoying.

A pair of helpers for Drew Stafford and that gives him 8+2=10 over his last nine games... mentioned this in the comments the other day, Stafford always seems to find a way to mess things up, either through inconsistency or injury, so beware.

Jakub Voracek with a goal last night and he has 2+1=3 in three games since he was a healthy scratch for a deuce.  On a related note, Fedor Tyutin had only 0+4=4 in 25 games before he was a healthy scratch in early December... he's 2+4=6 in 13 games since.

Two assists last night for Valtteri Filppula to take his point streak to six games and he has 3+6=9 over his last nine.  This guy is a great add in points-only leagues.

Proving that he doesn't need Datsyuk, Henrik Zetterberg extended his point streak to eight games last night where he has 5+7=12, plus-6 with 29 shots.  He's on pace to get back up to the 90 point level this year after back-to-back seasons in the low-70s.

So Michael Leighton cleared waivers and was sent to the AHL (I'd like to say that I don't know why the Islanders didn't bite, but I think we all know why).  You never know what can happen but given the Flyers cap situation, it wouldn't surprise me if they can't afford to risk bringing him up on re-entry waivers, so he might be stuck in the AHL until the playoffs.

This sucks... Erik Gustafsson has been sent back to the AHL by the Flyers... c'mon, give the kid a bloody game!

The Flames have recalled Mikael Backlund from the AHL... well that didn't last long.
