Injury Updates - Jan 7th, 2011

For a consolidated list of injuries & current status, see our Injury Updates page.

Lots of mystery surrounding Sidney Crosby's injury status as some thought he hurt his hand last game and others think that he hasn't shaken the Steckl hit from the Winter Classic... not really sure, all the Penguins are saying is that he has a mild concussion and should be out a week.  That's a little scary as some concussions aren't that easy to shake off, so let's hope the Penguins are right on the diagnosis.

It wouldn't be right if Alex Ovechkin wasn't hurt at the same time as Crosby... Ovie seems to be nursing a wrist injury of some sort and he took a cortisone shot the other day and was limited in practice yesterday.  He's not expected to miss any game action but this may be what's affecting his play (and his shooting) lately.

Roman Hamrlik missed last night's game and is out day-to-day with an undisclosed injury.

Jordan Eberle was already out with his ankle injury so perfect timing to have his appendix removed... he's not expected to be out any longer than the 10 day recovery time for his ankle.

Pascal Leclaire hasn't played since mid December due to a LBI but he's recovered enough that he should dress as the back-up tonight and will probably get a start shortly.

Returning to action from the injured list:  Dainius Zubrus, Blake Comeau & Brent Johnson.
