Wednesday's Daily Dosage - Edler, Eakin, Lecavalier...

New, 10 comments

Alexander Edler with B2B three-pointers and dude is on fire right now with 3+7=10 & 24 shots over his last six games.... he's up to 3rd in scoring amongst dmen and why do I have a feeling that he might finish there or higher?

Roberto Luongo was about 30 seconds away from a shutout last night stopping 28 of 29 against Calgary.  That's just the second game this year where he's allowed less than three goals.  The calendar did flip to November so he can put October behind him but Luu really doesn't kick it into gear until December.

The Caps called up Cody Eakin yesterday after he had 3+5=8 in his last eight games for Hershey... I really like this kid.  They put him in the lineup last night and he played 13 minutes mostly with Semin & Johansson on L2, so they have high hopes for him as well.  I'll be watching him closely so don't fret.

41-year-old Teemu Selanne with 2+2=4 last night in another incredible age-defying performance... he has 3+7=10 in his last five games.

An assist on seven shots last night for Vincent Lecavalier and he quietly has 4+3=7 & plus-5 over his last seven games.  His assist came on Brett Connolly's first NHL goal... if the kid keeps playing with Vinny & MSL then there is bound to be more where that came from.

Teddy Purcell was a scratch two weeks back but has responded with 3+4=7 over his last seven games and seems to be combining nicely with Stamkos on the #1 line.

Cody Hodgson with a nice two-point effort last night in just 12 minutes of ice-time playing with Kesler & Booth.

In an event that has blown my mind... Chris Higgins scored last night and now leads the Canucks with six goals.

Jiri Tlusty has points in three straight and 2+4=6 over his last nine.

I'm not much of a Chris Kelly fan but he now has 2+4=6 over his last five games.  Give him a look if you need a 30 point forward on your squad.

It's good news/bad news time with Stephane Da Costa.... good news is that he's playing on the 2nd line and had 1+1=2 last night, bad news is that he only played 12 minutes and the Sens 2nd line currrently includes Foligno & Neil.

Josh Harding made his third start of the season and all three have been against Detroit.  That sounds a little unfair but he now has a 2-0-1 record in those three games along with a 1.30 gaa & .965 sv%.  He has talent but staying healthy is his biggest problem.

Mikko Koivu with his first goal of the season and he also added an assist to extend his point streak to three games (1+3=4).  I'd buy low here.

Gustav Nyquist played 11 minutes with Bertuzzi & Franzen in his first NHL game... no points but a little PP time.  His insertion into the lineup cost Jiri Hudler his spot as he was a healthy scratch.  Hudler has no points & just one shot over his last five games.

Francois Beauchemin with a big game for those of you in peripheral-heavy leagues as he had 1A in 26:48 of ice-time to go with his eight hits & four blks.

The CBJs announced that Ryan Johansen is not going back to the WHL.

Matt Frattin and Linus Omark were both demoted to the AHL after slow starts to the season.  Omark is likely looking for a change in scenery... and I don't think he means Oklahoma City.
