Thursday's Injury Update - Hiller, Duchene, Brodeur...

Jonas Hiller used to be a very happy guy. Now he's just very, very sleepy.
Jonas Hiller used to be a very happy guy. Now he's just very, very sleepy.

Here's your Sidney Crosby update: he still has symptoms and he can't play until he's symptom-free.  Continue in holding pattern.

The Ducks put Jonas Hiller on the injured list with the weird dizziness/fatigue issues he's having.  Timo Pielmeier was called up and could get a few starts (especially after McElhinney's shocker last night).  Hiller will miss the next three games at least but this injury worries me.

Missed this one yesterday... Brad Richards missed last night's game (his second straight) with a UBI.  He's not expecting to be in the lineup on Saturday either but it sounds like he'll be back early next week.  The Stars need him back as they are sliding fast.

Update on Matt Duchene's hand... he's out indefinitely.  I hate the word 'indefinitely'... what the hell does that mean?  The Avs are being pretty cryptic with info here so no timetable for a return as of yet.  This doesn't sound like good news though.

Bit of a surprise but Ville Leino didn't play last night.  He's got a LBI and should be considered day-to-day.

Sounds like Sergei Gonchar will miss the next two games with his LBI but he shouldn't be out much more than that.

Jean-Sebastien Giguere left after stopping all nine shots he faced in the first period with an UBI.  No word on what the injury is but since he's not playing much anyway (two starts in previous seven games) this isn't going to help matters.

More news on Martin Brodeur.  Lemaire said Brodeur should be back at practice on Thursday and could possibly play on Friday.  It's doubtful we'll see Marty on Friday though as Johan Hedberg looked great last night.  Don't depend on him until early next week.

Andrew Brunette left last night's game early with a head injury.  No word on extent yet.

Jaroslav Halak is suffering through a LBI.  He's day-to-day but could potentially miss the next Blues game on Friday.

Not injury news but we don't have a Trade Rumour Update section, so this will have to do.  Ian White missed last night's game and it could be because he's on his way out of Carolina.  Paul Maurice said "there's something in the works that's pending" and "if it happens, it will happen in the next 24 hours, I guess. If it doesn't, then he's with our hockey team.".  A change of scenery could only help this guy.

Steve Bernier missed last night's game with the flu.  He's not helping your team anyway.

Returning from injury: Patrick Kane, Ethan Moreau and Jussi Jokinen
