Friday Injury Updates - Bieksa, Brodeur, Gustavsson...

New, 14 comments

Marcel Goc was hurt early in the second period last night and didn't return.  More info when we get it.

Wojtek Wolski returned from his rib injury last night.  He didn't hit the scoreboard and played only 13 minutes.  Not the best return.

Steve Sullivan was hit in the head with the puck.  Barry Trotz cleared things up by saying he was hit in the facial area but not the eye.  Thanks Barry.  He went to hospital and we should have an update sometime today.

Same deal with James Wisniewski.  Puck in the face in the first period yesterday.  He was bleeding and was aken to the hospital.  No info on severity as of yet.

Haven't had a Guillaume Latendresse update in awhile.  He's hoping to start practicing next week buit since he only played eight games before going down it could take him awhile to get up to speed.

Yesterday it sounded like Jaroslav Halak was only going to be out a few days but he's on the IR now.  Sounds more seriously than I originally thought.  Ben Bishop has been called up to take his place.

Antero Niittymaki was put on the IR yesterday with an LBI.  No word on how long he'll be out.  Expect to see even more Antti Niemi.

Kevin Bieksa blocked a shot Tuesday night but finished the game and had a x-ray after which was negative.  All good right?  Nope.  A CT scan showed a small break.  There is no timetable for his return but he might be out for an extended period.

Martin Brodeur definitely isn't going to play on Friday night but there is a chance he could play on Saturday.  Either way he should be good to go next week.

Jonas Gustavsson could be back in a couple of days.  With James Reimer playing so well don't expect the Leafs to rush him back from his heart issues.  If possible, I'd wait to see how much playing time he gets before you use him.

Returning from the injury list: Brad Stuart
