The biggest and brightest from the past week in Fantasy Land...
Three Stars of the Week:
3rd Star, from the Calgary Flames, numero 17, Rene Bourque... he was terrible a few weeks ago but he's put together a nice 2+4=6 in 3 games this week and had been a big part in the Flames' recent success.
2nd Star, from the Edmonton Oilers, numero 83, Ales Hemsky... three games with 4+3=7 and he even had 10 shots (which is a good pace for him). The great week might have gotten him a ticket (via trade) out of Edmonton)
Rookie Star of the Week: Alex Pietrangelo, STL - he's not technically a rookie but that's just because of the weird NHL eligibility rules. He picked up six assists (four on PP) in three games and the Blues gave him a big shot of confidence by trading Erik Johnson.
Breakout Star of the Week: Danny Cleary, DET - he's played 10 game since he returned from injury and picked up eight points in that span. Last week he had four points in three games to earn this spot. He's never scored more than 42 points but right now he's on pace for 50 (even though he missed 14 games).
Breakdown of the Week: Curtis McElhinney's fault but Fowler need to take some blame for a zero point, minus-8 week, Ana - A lot of his ugly week is thanks to
Free Agent Star of the Week (less than 50% owned in Yahoo!): Andy McDonald, STL (29% owned) - He's had some success in the past (he has an 85 point season), some good linemates (David Backes and Chris Stewart), a current hot streak (10 points in last eight games) and most importantly he looks healthy.
Honourable mention to James Reimer (30%) and Danny Cleary (30%)
