Fantasy Stars of the Week - Week#17

The biggest and brightest from the past week in Fantasy Land...

Three Stars of the Week:

3rd Star, from the Boston Bruins, numero 33, Zdeno Chara... not flashy but effective (3A, plus-1, 10 PIMs & 15 shots).

2nd Star, from the Detroit Red Wings, numero 93, Johan Franzen... five goals & 10 shots in one game was all Franzen needed to be the top forward for the week.

1st Star, from the New Jersey Devils, numero 30, Martin Brodeur... wasn't full marks for his victory on Sunday (only played one period) but us fantasy folks don't care... he had three wins last week with a 1.29 gaa & .944 sv%.

Rookie Star of the WeekKevin Poulin, NYI - in an eventful week, he had two wins, a 2.00 gaa & .920 sv% and also drew the key penalty (on Lehner) as he was skating off the ice for the 2nd intermission which led to a PP GWG... and he didn't get his face smashed in, which was a plus.

Breakout Star of the WeekP.K. Subban, Mtl - four points last week and 4+8=12 over his last 15 puts him on pace for a nice breakout season with 35+ points, 100+ PIMs & 200+ shots.

Breakdown of the Week:  Sergei Gonchar, Ott - second week in a row for Gonch in this space, all he could muster was a measly assist and two shots last week and he's played like Betty White all season.

Free Agent Star of the Week (less than 50% owned in Yahoo!):  Alex Tanguay, Cgy (43% owned) - usually you don't get much other than assists from this guy so we have to tip the cap to his 2+3=5, plus-3 & 10 shots in three games last week.  Honourable mention to Chris Campoli (1% owned) for his 1+4=5 week and Travis Hamonic who had 1+2=3 and according to Yahoo! is owned in 0% of leagues (except that I own him in a league).
