Saturday's Daily Dosage - Lidstrom, Thomas, Marchand...

Nicklas Lidstrom apparently doesn't want his season (and career???) to end this way as he had two goals on six shots last night and has 4+1=5 so far in the series... more amazing from the 41-year-old.

Tim Thomas completed the sweep last night and is on a roll having won eight of his last nine games... he stopped 95.3% of the shots he faced in round #2.

The Flyers got one goal each out of Giroux, Richards, Hartnell, Versteeg & Carter in the playoffs... that's way not good enough.

Just an ENG for Brad Marchand last night but he chipped in with 4+2=6 during the four game series.  If he somehow managed to slip under radar this season, he's likely blown his cover in these playoffs.

Sergei Bobrovsky did get the call for the Flyers last night and he was alright (22 of 25) but not good enough.  It sounds like it will likely be him and a FA signing manning the net for the Flyers next year as Boucher (UFA) and Leighton (buyout or AHL) likely won't be back.

Ryane Clowe with a nice night with 3A, plus-3, four PIMs & four shots last night and he's been Mr. All-or-Nothing in these playoffs with five multi-point games and five games without a point in 10 playoff games.

Patrick Marleau is without a point so far through the first four games of round #2.

Milan Lucic with his first goal in 21 games last night and he added a second later for good measure.

David Krejci was a Flyer-killer in the 2nd round as he had 4+5=9 & three GWGs in the series.

Ville Leino was not the same Ville Leino as last year (a tough ask) as he only had 3+2=5 & 12 shots in 11 playoff games.  He's a UFA this summer so we'll see if this impacts the Flyers decision on a contract.  I'd be a little weary about him as I think he really benefited by playing with Briere & Hartnell and could easily end up in a less desirable situation.

Kris Versteeg scored his first goal of the playoffs last night but finished the series with just one point and a minus-5.

The Ducks have signed 25-year-old Finnish FA goalie Iiro Tarkki to a one-year deal.  He's had four straight seasons with solid numbers in the SM-Liiga (2.09 & .924 in 55 gms this year) and led his team to the finals.  He'll likely start next season in the AHL as the Ducks have Hiller & Ellis under contract but he could be called upon if Hiller's vertigo issues are still unresolved.

Another Finnish goalie, Karri Ramo, who is now property of Montreal, has signed an extension to stay in the KHL for another two years.

At the WCs yesterday... Canada beat the US in a shootout to remain undefeated, John Tavares is leading the way for Canada with 3+4=7 in four games whereas Derek Stepan, who has looked really confident & dangerous, and his former UofWisc teammate, Craig Smith, are leading the US with five points each in four games.
