Thursday's Daily Dosage - Thomas, Marchand, Recchi...

Attaboy Timmy... looks good on ya.
Attaboy Timmy... looks good on ya.

HEADS UP:  Congrats to Michael Hickey for winning our FHS Playoff Pool (and $250) going wire-to-wire in the final.  Fabio DiMarco takes 2nd and Kevin Olexson gets 3rd... we'll be in touch with the winners to get them their prizes.  Thanks to everyone for playing along, good times.

A hard fought final series but I wouldn't call it a classic from the spectator's perspective with four of the games being shutouts and only one going to OT.  The Canucks didn't really bring their 'A' game and Thomas wasn't going to be denied... so congrats to Boston & their fans!

Tim Thomas was unbelievable again with a 37 save shutout last night.... he put up some unreal numbers with a 1.16 gaa & .967 sv% in the final, he went 11-1 in the playoffs when facing 35+ shots and, remarkably, improved on his record-setting regular season sv% (.938) by posting a .940 over 25 playoff games... a helluva season and to think that Jay & I grabbed him in the reserve draft of an experts league last fall.

Brad Marchand with 2+1=3 & plus-3 last night and if there was a fantasy Conn Smythe then it would probably go to him as he was 2nd in the playoffs in goals (11), 6th in points (19), was plus-12, 61 shots and added 40 PIMs... oh and he's just a rookie.

Patrice Bergeron didn't have a goal since game #4 of the Tampa series coming into last night but he scored two and really was a difference maker as he was plus-4.

I gave Mark Recchi a hard time during these playoffs as his age was showing but have to give him full credit for a great performance in the final with 3+4=7 and I'm happy for him that he gets to go out on top.

Not much you can say about Roberto Luongo, as he gave up three on 20 shots last night and loses four of his last five games while giving up 18 goals... not good enough.

It's fitting that the Sedin's were held pointless last night and were both a minus-4... complete fail from the twins in the final with a combined 2+3=5 & a minus-12 in the series.  This isn't going to help their reputation.

Ryan Kesler played well last night (led the Canucks with six shots) but he finished the series with just 1A (in game #1).  Some people are saying that he was playing with either/or groin & hip injuries.

Is it just me or is Chris Higgins not the the most terribly awful useless player on the ice?... I really don't see that this guy brings anything of value, at all.

There was some other (less important) hockey news yesterday but we'll leave that until tomorrow as the Bruins and their fans deserve to enjoy the spotlight.
