Wednesday's Daily Dosage - Kuznetsov, Khabibulin, J.Williams...

Not this season, next season
Not this season, next season

Saw the headline Kuznetsov Coming to Washington Next Season and I got excited... but then I realized that when he's talking about 'Next Season' he means next season and not this season... ok, glad I cleared that up for you myself. Kuznetsov will play one more year in the KHL before coming to North America to conquer the NHL. We're high on this kid but we're trying to keep our head about us, so we have him at #23 in our Top 500 Prospect Rankings.

Nikolai Khabibulin has dropped his appeal and will serve 30 days in jail/house arrest... reports say that it will be wrapped up by the time training camp is set to start... ahh isn't it grand when the justice system can fit their punishment into your busy schedule, I mean they wouldn't want this to be an inconvenience to him at all. Jail time could actually help Khabibulin, maybe he'll focus more on getting ready for the season as opposed to his liquid workouts of the past.

The Penguins signed Jason Williams to a two-way deal... he's been decent for short stints with a few teams in recent years (DET, CHI, CBJ) but split last year between the AHL and Dallas and given his deal and the Penguins depth chart, we think he'll have to follow the same path to the NHL this year. So it's probably not worth acting on at this point.

Mark Fraser re-signed with the Devils on a one-way deal... he doesn't have fantasy value but things are starting to get interesting on the NJ blueline. They now have six dman signed to one way deals but that includes Bryce Salvador who is a question mark due to a concussion. That leaves Matt Taormina, Mark Fayne, Matthew Corrente & Adam Larsson fighting for one or two spots. As we said yesterday, we think Taormina has something that the Devils need but things are getting dicey here.

Justin Pogge signed with PHX on a two-way deal... he's like #4 on their goalie depth chart so act accordingly.

As we mentioned over a week ago, Craig Smith finally did sign with Nashville... go back in time to hear our thoughts on that. Also as speculated, Kris Draper did retire yesterday and Alexei Yashin is in no rush to sign with the Islanders.

In case you want to keep tabs on Sidney Crosby's offseason workouts, here you go (thanks to PensBurgh)...

... attaboy Sid, you owned that chair.
