Monday's Daily Dosage - Clitsome, Boyes, Filppula...

If drafting Dalpe is wrong, I don't wanna be right.
If drafting Dalpe is wrong, I don't wanna be right.

Lots going on this weekend so we just wanted to mention a few things that might have snuck by:
- We finally got around to completing our reviews of both Yahoo!'s and ESPN's default rankings.  A definite must read for anybody drafting on either of those sites.
- We had the first of our FHS Premier League's auctions last night.  Check out the results here.  If you want to get in on the action, get the details here... only a few spots left.

On to the preseason ramblings...

Am I crazy for thinking Grant Clitsome is going to have a decent fantasy season?  He's #3 on the PP depth charts and last year he played at a 50 point pace over 30 games.  He's never shown much in the minors but 30 games is a fairly big sample.  In meaningless preseason action last night he picked up 1+1=2 in over 25 minutes of work.

Brad Boyes has been suspended for two pre-season games for an illegal hit two days ago.  We're still waiting to hear what Shanny plans to do with James Wisniewski.

Cam Ward with the 26 save shutout last night against the Peg.  In that game, one of my favourite darkhorse breakouts (Zac Dalpe) picked up his first goal.  He's a long shot, but I like his chances.

The Sam Gagner injury we told you about yesterday should only keep him out a couple of days.  Happy days for those of you hoping for a breakout season from Gagner.

Valtteri Filppula with the nice 1+2=3 line last night.  We were expecting more from Filppula last year but after just 39 points in 71 games we're not too high on his chances last year.  Still, he does have some skills so maybe grab him late in deep leagues... particularly points only leagues.

Another three point night... this time from Brandon Pirri.  He's a longshot to make the Hawks and after just 43 points in 70 AHL games last year we don't think it would matter much to your fantasy team if he did make it.

Devan Dubnyk with a 30 save shutout against the rival Flames.  Maybe this will help the Oiler brass realize they should never, ever play Nikolai Khabibulan again.

Scott Hartnell had an elevated heart rate in Friday night's game.  He'll sit out of action and visit a doctor to see what's up.  Your Hart/Heart puns are not required.

Looks like Matt Frattin and Brett Connolly have survived another round of cuts.  We wouldn't expect much NHL action out of them this season so don't get too excited.

Still no signs of Daniel Sedin, Henrik Sedin and Roberto Luongo in Vancouver.  Coach Alain Vigneault said he'll be rolling out the stars in two of the last three preseason games.  Just a bit of rest after a long postseason.

The Kings new second line of Simon Gagne - Mike Richards - Dustin Brown didn't look very good last night.  They went 0-fer and have a combined minus-6.  Better days ahead.
