Tuesday's Daily Dosage - Campoli, Wisniewski, M.Read...

The Habs signed Chris Campoli to a one-year deal... he's the epitome of "depth defenseman" but he could see some decent minutes and PP time in Montreal as they were pretty thin on the back-end and always seem to be dealing with multiple injuries.  If you need a dman who could get say 20 points, then give him a look.

Scott Clemmensen is out for somewhere between four-to-eight weeks after having knee surgery... damn, I thought his chances were pretty good to see some starts playing behind Theodore but those duties will likely fall to Tyler Plante or maybe even Jacob Markstrom for the next little while (unless they grab someone on waivers)

No update on Sam Gagner but there was some speculation that he may have a high-ankle sprain... that would be bad news.

David Perron gave an update on his status yesterday which was no update really, he hasn't begun training but is doing some light skating... there is no timetable for his return.

Wings prospect Jan Mursak is out for up to three months with a broken ankle, not that you should have been counting on him for much anyway.

Teenagers Mark Scheifele & Mika Zibanejad traded goals last night in a game in Newfoundland as they're both making a strong preseason push to make their respective clubs.  I like Zibanejad's chances better but still not that much.

James Wisniewski was suspended for eight regular season games for that head hit... wow, even though I own the Wiz in a few leagues, I like that Shanny is coming down hard on the repeat offenders.  Eight games in not an inconsequential number so take it into account when considering drafting the Wiz, he typically misses around another 10 due to injury.

On a related not, this suspension increases the chances that David Savard sticks around with the CBJs and could see some quality ice-time.  He led with the team by playing 24 minutes last night.

Christopher Bourque, remember him???, had 3A last night for the Caps but he's still likely headed for the minors.  Cody Eakin finished one of Bourque's setups, there is a kid I like but it will be tough for him to crack the NHL roster as well.

Oh baby... Matt Read played 21 minutes last night and had another strong game with 1+1=2 and he's leaving the Flyers no choice but to keep him around.   Jaromir Jagr teamed up with Claude Giroux on the top line and they each had three points (Jagr 2+1=3 & Giroux 3A), so they seem to be clicking well.

Tuukka Rask stopped 31 of 32 to beat the Habs last night but it was essentially Montreal's AHL roster (or worse) so I wouldn't get too excited.  There seems to be quite a buzz about Rask, lots of people expecting Thomas to fall off this year and Rask to slide back in there.  Rask as insurance for Thomas is close to a necessity but I don't think I'd go as far as banking on Rask for this season.

Ales Kotalik was sent to the AHL along with a bunch of other Sabres cuts (including Zack Kassian).  This clears out the necessary cap space that the team needed and means Luke Adam and Marc-Andre Gragnani are oh so close to making this team as there are only 25 players left in camp.

Here are the notable cuts from the past few days:  Owen Nolan (VAN), Dan Sexton (ANA), Kyle Palmieri (ANA), Emerson Etem (ANA), Joe Colborne (TOR), Tyler Toffoli (LA), Ryan Stoa (COL), Martin Marincin (EDM), Nathan Beaulieu (MTL), Kyle Beach (CHI), Sven Baertschi (CGY) & Michal Repik (FLA).
