Thursday Night Live – Get Your Picks In!

New, 21 comments

If you've tuned in to the site over the last couple of weeks, you may have seen the new FHS: Saturday Night Live! feature, which combines live blogging by myself and our readers with an over/under and pick 'em competition based on Saturday's games. "Hosting" this feature has been a ton of fun for me. Hope you've enjoyed it too. You can check out the last two SNLs here and here.

But after trying this out a couple of times, ̶m̶y̶ ̶w̶i̶f̶e̶ ̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶k̶i̶d̶s̶ ̶h̶a̶v̶e̶ ̶d̶e̶c̶i̶d̶e̶d̶ I've decided that the NHL is scheduling too damn many early Saturday games and maybe 12-13 hours of live blogging is a bit restrictive in terms of the whole raising a family thing. So, the bad news is that FHS SNL is cancelled. The good news? We're moving it to Thursday night!

The slate won't be quite as large on Thursdays as it is most Saturdays, but it's still generally a busy night in the NHL. Plus, to make up for fewer games, we're adding a new element to the over/under/pick 'em comp. Details after the jump.

The premise is simple:

1. submit your pick for the winning team for each game (H = home win, V = visitor win)
2. based on an over/under of 5.5 goals, submit your pick for over or under for each game (O = over, U = under)
3. the new twist - submit your pick for the game winning goal scorer in each game. (Shootout winners count as a GWG) Difficult? Yes, and the points here will be hard to come by. That's the idea.

The scoring system is easy: for every winning team you pick correctly, you get 1 point. For every over/under you get right, you get 1 point. For every GWG scorer picked correctly, you get 1 point. So a max of three points per game if you hit the rarefied trifecta of winner, over/under and GWG scorer.

Here is Thursday's slate:

Please post your picks in the comments for this post, and to keep things simple, just copy and paste the above slate and add your choice of winning team ((H = home win, V = visitor win), over or under based on 5.5 goals ((O = over, U = under), and the last name of your pick for GWG scorer, like this:

CHI@NYR HU Dubinsky

Finish on top and you'll be featured in Monday's Fantasy Stars of the Week feature, and the resulting glory and blinding fame will make your family cry for the old you. Thanks and good luck!
