Friday's Daily Dosage - Bailey, Briere, Malone, M.Smith...

Bailey had the puck on a string last night. No seriously, he did. Take a look.

Something strange is going on when Josh Bailey has a six game point scoring streak which includes last night's 5 point outburst. How could you not give this guy the stat line of the night with 2+3=5, plus-2, 2 PIM, 1 SHG, and 1 PPP against one of the top teams in the NHL. He has a scorching 3+9=12 for the streak. Going back a little further, he's put up 7+10=17 in his last 15 games. That's damn good when you consider that in his previous 60 games, he had 6+8=14. It looks like it's officially OK to pick this guy up without being completely embarrassed.

Kyle Okposo made it four straight games with a goal as he scored twice last night. That also gave him 20 on the season, a new career high. Something tells me that he'll get to 30 someday. He just has to avoid those early season slumps.

After winning 11 of 12 games, Marc-Andre Fleury has lost two straight games to the Islanders, giving up 9 goals in the process. For shame!

The Maple Leafs "emailed it in", to steal a line from James Mirtle, last night, which made for some nice Flyers stat lines. Danny Briere tied a season high with 4 points (all assists) and he's now on a modest three game point streak with 2+5=7.

Jaromir Jagr (3 assists) and Wayne Simmonds (2+1=3) both had three point nights while the Leafs watched them skate around.

Ryan Malone with the night's only hat trick and he's been sneakily productive lately with 5+2=7 and 22 shots in his last six games.

First goal in 26 games for Dennis Wideman. He also has just 2 points in his last eight games so he might be feeling a bit fatigued as the season winds down.

A goal and an assist for David Krejci last night and the playmaker has got a nice little string of games going with 1+6=7 over his last six games.

What a great effort by Mikko Koivu last night as he had a goal and an assist, plus-2, and 4 PIM. His goal was the GWG in OT and it was a pretty one.

Tomas Fleischmann with a goal and an assist last night and suddenly, Flash is hot again. He has 5+6=11, 3 PPP, and 29 shots over his last 11 games.

Jaroslav Halak put forth a good effort making 37 saves on 40 shots, but it wasn't enough as he was SOL. He's now lost 3 of his last 4 starts which means Brian Elliott (riding a 3 game shutout streak) should be seeing the nets more often to close out the season.

Mike Smith with his sixth shutout of the season last night as he stopped all 38 shots that the Sharks peppered him with. This couldn't have come at a better time for some of us, and by some of us, I mean me: FHS Beta League.

Radim Vrbata had missed two consecutive games due to a reaction to penicillin. He came back last night and scored two goals on 3 shots so apparently he's fine now. That also broke a 12 game goal scoring drought.

The Canadiens' dreadful season led to the firing of Pierre Gauthier. They also let go of Bob Gainey, who was just an advisor to the team. This probably should have happened the day after the Scott Gomez - Ryan McDonagh trade in my opinion, but maybe they should be thanking Gauthier. At least he's got them in good position for the upcoming draft.

For some reason, the Islanders signed John Grahame so that gives you an idea of what a mess it's been in net for the Islanders this season.
