Wednesday's Daily Dosage - Caron, McGinn, Varlamov...

Caron sniped this one

This is more like it... 12 games last night and 12 teams scored four or more goals (including two hitting seven) and no shutouts!!! Lots to cover and I surely missed stuff, so drop any noteworthy performances in the comments

2+1=3, plus-3 & four shots for Jordan Caron last night and his first career three point game comes right after his first two point game on Sunday. I'd be more excited about this if he was playing on a scoring line but so far he's just playing with Kelly & Pouliot.

Life is good for Jamie McGinn right now, Gordie Howe Hat-Trick last night with 1+1=2, five PIMs, five shots & three hits. That follows up the two goals on five shots he had against the same Minny team on Sunday night. As tb pointed out, lets see if he can score against somebody other than the Wild (cause they suck) but a player with confidence is a dangerous thing.

Semyon Varlamov stopped 21 of 22 to beat the Wild last night and he is now 5-1-0, 0.84 & .970 over his last six games. There have been quite a few cupcakes during that run as he has faced both MIN & the CBJs twice but he doesn't make the goddam schedule, so give him a break why don't ya?

The fantasy line looks good, 3+1=4, PPG, SHG, plus-4 & four shots but two of Milan Michalek's goals came into the empty net so it's hard to give him full credit for this monster performance.

Matt Hackett was pulled in the 2nd period after allowing four goals on 21 shots to the Avs. The Wild are pretty much giving their goalies no chance as they've been outscored 24-5 over their last five games.

Ben Bishop won his first start with Ottawa as he stopped 25 of 28 to top the Lightning. I'd expect to see a lot of Bishop until Anderson's hand heals.

Mikhail Grabovski signed a big money five-year extension yesterday and then extensioned his point streak to four games (3+3=6) with a goal last night... so good day for Grabo.

It was a three point night for Mike Ribeiro and he has at least a point in 10 of his last 11 games (5+10=15).

Alex Pietrangelo with a pair of assist last night and he has 6A (five PPPs) over his last five games. Rather quietly he has moved himself into the top five in points by a dman this year with 40 in 66 games.

Two goals on four shots for Max Pacioretty last night give him 3+2=5 & 17 shots during a three game point streak and moves him past our magical 50 point breakout threshold.

Eric Staal extended his point streak to 12 games (7+14=21 & plus-11) with an assist last night.

Curtis Glencross found the mark last night and has a goal in five straight games. He added a pair of assists as a bonus.

Steve Downie returned after a game off due to a bum shoulder but marked his comeback with 3A to give him 2+8=10 & plus-10 in his first eight games with Colorado.

The Flyers have signed undrafted FA goalie Cal Heeter out of Ohio St. The odds of guys like this working out are very slim.

The Avs have called Mike Connolly up from the AHL and the Sabres Marcus Foligno is heading down.
