These guys are so last year... make room for another hotshot #1 pick in Oil-country

The Playoffs kick-off tonite!... so last day to get your picks in for our FREE Playoff Pool

Lucky!... the Oilers won the draft lottery last night and will pick first for the third time in a row. With the way things are situated and how wide open the draft is I could see a lot of movement between both teams and players at the top. I wouldn't be surprised to see Edmonton & Columbus looking to move down and Montreal & Toronto trying to move up... should make for a crazy draft.

Daniel Sedin missed practice yesterday after practicing and being 100% (according to his brother) on Monday. Reports say that he may have suffered a setback and won't play tonight. We'll see.

Brian Elliott is day-to-day with a UBI and sat out part of practice yesterday... doesn't sound like anything too serious but I can't see them starting a banged up goalie in game #1 on Thursday.

Unless there is some serious trickery going on it looks like Braden Holtby will be the starter for Washington on Thursday. Both Michal Neuvirth (leg) & Tomas Vokoun (groin) were at practice yesterday but neither was looking fully ready to return.

As anticipated, the Rangers signed Chris Kreider out of BC after his Jr. season where he led the Eagles with 23+22=45 in 44 games. I've never been overly impressed with this kid, he has great size & talent (speed & shot) but when you can't combine that to put up big numbers, then I question how smart a player you are. If he can't dominate college kids with his impressive physical tools, then how is he going to do it in the NHL?

Also leaving BC after three years was dman Brian Dumoulin who was signed by Carolina after being their 2nd round pick in 2009. He led the team's dmen with 7+21=28 in 44 games and is a good looking prospect but not sure where he'll fit in offensively with a team that already employs Justin Faulk, Jamie McBain & Ryan Murphy.

Mika Zibanejad is back in North America now that his season in Sweden is over... the Sens have sent him to Bingo and I'm not clear if he could play for the Sens in the playoffs even if they wanted him to.
