Wednesday's Injury Updates - Callahan, Spezza, Lack...

A fantasized look at the injury news on Wednesday morning

Elsa

Rangers captain Ryan Callahan suffered what looked like a pretty serious shoulder injury while he tangled with Max Talbot last night. We should hear more on the severity today.

Jason Spezza picked up a UBI on Sunday and after missing the last two days of practice he was held out of last night's game. It doesn't sound too serious, so let's say he's day-to-day.

Dan Boyle couldn't go for the Sharks last night with what I've seen described as a nose injury. That would be a pretty literal description for what we normally call the flu. A little nose rehab and he should be fine.

Sven Baertschi is day-to-day after suffering a LBI in practice yesterday.

Not sure why Kari Lehtonen was pulled with five minutes left in last night's game... mercy, perhaps? I've looked around but can't find anything that indicates it was injury related.

Vancouver prospect Eddie Lack had hip surgery and is sidelined for six months... well that makes the Luongo situation even more interesting as Lack was seen as ready to step into the #2 role for the Canucks.

Jake Gardiner was scratched last night and of course everyone says that it was a "coach's decision" but likely he was never fully ready to return from the concussion he suffered back in December.

Returning to action from the injured list last night: Thomas Vanek, Travis Hamonic, Daniel Alfredsson, Tomas Kaberle & Kris Versteeg.
