A fantasized look at the NHL injury news on Saturday morning

Fred Greenslade-USA TODAY Sports

Uh-oh... Kari Lehtonen left last night's game with a reported LBI after taking a puck to the head.  Yes, that's correct. He took a shot off the mask and then left the game.  The team said aftewards that he has a lower-body issue.  I guess the good news here is that it's not his back, which has been a big issue for him in the past.  Not sure what to believe here.  So Dan Ellis is in and  think he's a backup in a very good situation to surprise some people this year.

More bad news for the Flyers as both Scott Hartnell (UBI) and Vincent Lecavalier (LBI) were injured during last night's game and are expected to be out for at least a week.  We should find out something more definitive today.

This seems minor as that's what the team is telling us, Ben Bishop is day-to-day with a LBI.  He was practicing this morning but I would guess that they would sit him out tonight.  They called up Cedrick Desjardins just in case.

Elias Lindholm had to leave last night's game early due to a UBI... he'll be re-evaluated today.

Brian Gionta left the team to head back to Montreal to deal with some family issues.  I would think he's out for tonight's game and questionable for Tuesday's tilt in The Peg.

Alexander Edler took a run at our boy Tommy Hertl and will pay the price as he's been suspended for the next three games... serves him right.

Cody Franson (nose) was able to practice yesterday wearing a cage and should be good to go tonight.

Viktor Stalberg (shoulder) will be a game-time decision for tonight's game.

Cal Clutterbuck made his season debut last night but only played 8:34 on the Islanders 3rd line.
