A Fantasy Hockey perspective of what went down in the NHL on Wednesday Night

There were only two match ups on the schedule tonight, so I was trying to think of how to begin this column and my only inspiration came with an apparently accidental collision involving Troy Brouwer (the collider) and Derek Stepan (the collidee)  at center ice of the Rangers - Capitals game. Naturally that made me think of that infamous French queen Marie Antoinette, who had her beheading on Oct. 16 of 1793.
yep that wasn't quite the case here as Stepan returned to the ice after 10 minutes in the "room"

New York Rangers @ Washington Capitals

Braden Holtby in the loss at least looks like he's back on form with a 2.25 GAA and .927 SV% over  his past 4 contests, as he turned aside 34 of 36 shots from a surprisingly aggressive Ranger attack that wasn't given a lot of resistance.

John Moore, the former Columbus Blue Jackets 1st round pick was put on the first PP unit with Michael Del Zotto out with the flu. He responded with his 1st Goal of the season he is a candidate at 22 for a breakout season so he's one you might put on a watch list, the tools are there, ice time may be a difficult thing to come by with a veteran core of blue-liners

Brad Richards continued putting up points with a pair of assists with 5 SOG, and has a nice start to the season with 7 points (4G + 3A) thru six contests.

Ryan Callahan scored his 3rd goal of the season on 6 shots now has a points streak going. He started the season slowly after rehabbing his surgically repaired shoulder, so this is a good sign as he also registered 5 Hits and 2 Blocks

Henrik Lundqvist brought his 4.23 GAA and .897 SV% to D.C. and watched his offense dominate the puck possession battle and wasn't really challenged much beyond the 10 minute mark of the 1st period. When he was, he was up to the challenge stopping all 22 shots that Washington sent his way, earning his 2nd win and 1st shutout on the year.

Anaheim Ducks @ Calgary Flames

Lee Stempniak after scoring a shorty last night, now has a point (2G + 3A) in 5 of the first 6 games of the season, yeah I know right? I'm not sure what you can do with that information either. Lee does have a couple of 20 goal seasons on his resume and Yahoo claims he is available in your league, as he is only 10% owned.

Jiri Hudler is a guy who should probably be owned in most standard leagues, but likely isn't in yours with Yahoo! reporting him roster-ed in only 38% of their pools. Happy found the back of the net, and has points in all 6 of the Flames contests thus far (3G +5A) and he's even got a +/- of plus-3 as a bonus.

Joey MacDonald was very Joey MacDonald like tonight

Dustin Penner after sitting out the last game with the mysterious UBI scored the opener and he has 4 points (2G +2A) thru 4 games. I've never roster-ed him in any league, though he looks like he would be an option for streaming as long as he's skating that top line.

Teemu Selanne got his first goal on the season and is riding a 3 game point streak (1G + 3A)

Jakob Silfverberg with 1 assist is back on the score sheet after being shut down by his former mates for the first time this season vs Ottawa

Viktor Fasth stopped 32 of 34 to get the his second win on the season. He's started slowly and is likely behind Hiller but is a quality net minder.

I was rather uninspired by the overall action in last nights games so let me know what I missed, as always, i welcome your feedback.
