A fantasized look at the NHL injury news on Sunday morning

USA TODAY Sports

Taylor Hall picked up a knee injury last night but the severity is not known yet.  Dallas Eakins did say that it would keep him out for "more than a day or two"... which could mean three days, two weeks or four months.  Stay tuned.  Could this provide an opening for Nail Yakupov?

It hasn't been a rosy Montreal homecoming for Danny Briere and now he's out with a concussion.  This is at least his 3rd brain injury so I would think he'll be out for a while.

Lubomir Visnovsky also left his game last night with a concussion.  Let's call him out indefinitely as well.

Just what the Devils needed (although they ended up winning 4-nil last night)... Patrik Elias (flu) & Damien Brunner (nagging shoulder injury) couldn't go for New Jersey last night but neither should be out long.

Not major... Mike Fisher missed last night's game with a LBI, he's day-to-day.

Little-used Jordan Schroeder left yesterday's game with a foot injury.  He may have re-aggravated a prior injury.

Jacob Trouba has a sprained neck and will be wearing a neck brace for the next two weeks, at least. He'll be re-evaluated at that point, so I wouldn't expect to see him for the next month.

Niklas Kronwall (concussion) is hoping to return within a week. Sounds overly optimistic.

Carl Soderberg made his season debut last night after recovering from an ankle injury and recorded an assist while playing 14 minutes on a line with Kelly & Marchand.  He could be a decent add in deeper leagues.

Also returning to action from the injured list last night:  Jimmy Howard, James van Riemsdyk, Marian Gaborik & James Reimer (dressed as backup).
