A fantasized look at the injury news on Saturday morning

Doug Pensinger

Roman Josi absorbed a high-cross-body from Steve Downie last night and had to leave the game.  He seemed fine as he got up right away but he was likely a little shaken.  Let's hope he can brush it right off.

No Gabriel Landeskog last night due to a leg injury but he is expected to get back on the ice skating on Sunday, so doesn't seem like anything serious.

James Neal is listed as week-to-week due to a UBI.  What do you say Pens followers, good news for Beau Bennett?  Chuck Kobasew?  Some combination of the two?

Matt Stajan is out week-to-week with a deep bruise on his leg.  That meant Joe Colborne slotted into Stajan's spot on the Flames "top line" last night between Glencross & D.Jones.

Jack Hillen will have knee surgery and is out for a few months.  Not a huge loss but good news for those that want to see rookie Connor Carrick stick long-term.

Similar situation with Morgan Rielly as he'll draw into the lineup due to Mark Fraser being out for 3-4 weeks with a knee injury.

It's not really news that Sami Salo (UBI) is hurt, it's more comedy at this point.  GM Yzerman says his status is "hour-to--hour"... love it!  Can we go one step further and call him minute-to-minute?... as in, his next injury could happen at any moment.

Alexandre Burrows has a minor LBI but word is he'll play through it and be in the lineup tonight.

One game into the season and old man Selanne needs a rest as he'll sit out tonight's game.  The plan is that he won't play in back-to-back games this season, so he will play on Sunday in Winnipeg.

A couple of eager beavers here as Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (shoulder) & Ryan Callahan (shoulder) were both expected to be out longer but are now going to make their season debut on Monday.

Rich Peverley is expected to make his return tonight after sitting out the preseason with a broken heart.
