Saturday's NHL Injury Updates

The Injuries that matter to your NHL Fantasy Hockey roster

Maddie Meyer

Marty Havlat was a healthy scratch on Friday.
Just thought I'd throw that out there, knowing you don't usually see the words Havlat and Healthy used in conjunction.
It somehow just seems wrong.
So with Cam M.I.A. I thought i would post a bit of what you should know, and likely already do.
You're an astute fantasy hockey G.M.
Just in case...

Saturday's NHL Injury Update

National Hockey League Schedule Sat, Nov 16

Detroit Red Wings @ New York Islanders

Thomas Vanek (upper body) will not play on Saturday.

Daniel Alfredsson (groin) will be a game-time decision tonight.

New York Rangers @ Montreal Canadiens

Brendan Gallagher missed Friday night's game against Columbus due to the flu. It will likely be a game-time decision as to whether Gallagher suits up against New York.
Alexei Emelin will make his season debut against the Rangers Saturday night. Not much for Fantasy but good to see the Russian return from his knee injury.

Michael Del Zotto will be a healthy scratch tonight.
The struggling blueliner has only one goal and three assists in 16 games, and has seen his normal 20 plus minutes of ice  dwindle to just 15:52 TOI in his last four games.

Rick Nash (concussion) is is being rather optimistic, after skating consecutive days and doing contact drills.
"Hopefully one of the games Tuesday or Thursday, for sure, as long as there's no setbacks," Nash said. "Everything's been positive and I've been pushing it everyday."

Pittsburgh Penguins @ New Jersey Devils

Buffalo Sabres @ Toronto Maple Leafs

Carolina Hurricanes @ St. Louis Blues

Tampa Bay Lightning @ Phoenix Coyotes

Sami Salo is expected to return to action Saturday night against Phoenix.
Salo has missed Tampa's last three games with a lower-body injury but seems good to go against the Coyotes Saturday night. He will likely take the place of the injured Mark Barberio.

Zbynek Michalek (lower-body) and Derek Morris (lower-body) probably won't play tonight says Coyotes head coach Dave Tippet. for Morris it is his 5th straight game.

Connor Murphy has been summoned from Portland, he was the 20th overall pick in the 2011 NHL Draft.

Chicago Blackhawks @ Nashville Predators

Eric Nystrom (upper-body) will not play tonight.

Florida Panthers @ Colorado Avalanche

Alex Tanguay is out indefinitely with his knee injury.
Andre Benoit (wrist) will not play tonight, says injury is not serious.

Edmonton Oilers @ Calgary Flames

Around the NHL

Ottawa Senators Bobby Ryan (head) left the Ottawa win over Boston late in the third period last night Friday after taking a Dennis Seidenberg elbow to the jaw. Ryan left the ice immediately on his own and did not return.
Ryan skated this morning so seems he'll be good to go tomorrow vs. Columbus.

Marian Gaborik however will not he's out 4-6 weeks with knee sprain

Minnesota Wild Goalie Niklas Backstrom (concussion) could be out long-term for now it's day-to-day
"I wouldn’t say Backy’s day-to-day because you never know with concussions, so we’ll have to evaluate how Nik’s doing," GM Chuck Fletcher said Friday morning. "If it’s going to be longer-term, we’ll have to look at doing something. If it’s shorter-term, we’re confident with the guys we have. But ultimately we need Darcy Kuemper and Johan Gustafsson developing in Iowa and not spending the whole year up here."

Ryane Clowe (concussion) resumed skating this morning for the first time since October 12. There is still no timetable for his return.

Zach Bogosian (lower-body) left Friday's contest early and did not return, he's already ruled out Sunday. Weekly lineups I would suggest a replacement for next week because it doesn't sound good for the short term.
