A fantasized look at NHL action from Tuesday night

Ronald Martinez
It took just 53 seconds in the third period last night for the Dallas Stars to score 3 goals and secure a victory over the Anaheim Ducks. This also happened to be the only game that was played which I have to admit was a nice break for me as Tuesday's tend to be a busy night in the NHL. So not much content to cover here but here is what I dug up...

Anaheim Ducks 3 vs Dallas Stars 6

Dustin Penner followed up his two goal performance with a PP goal last night. He now has 7G and 11A for 18 points in 20GP while playing on L1 and PP1 duties.

Ryan Getzlaf with 1A extended his point streak to 8 games now with 12 points in that span.

Speaking of streaks, Teemu Selanne was held pointless for the 11th consecutive game while registering 3SOG. He saw only 14 minutes TOI and is being held out on B2B games. This is his final year so maybe he is saving his best for the playoffs.

Dan Ellis with his first start since October 19th stopped 28-31 for the win. He has only played in 7 games, mostly due to Lehtonen being injured earlier in the year. If Lehtonen goes down again, Ellis will be the guy gettings the wins, even though his numbers will be nowhere near Lehtonen like.

Hard to believe that Dallas scored six goals in this one and their top line of Benn, Seguin and Nichuskin was held off the scoresheet entirely. So who did the Ducks not cover?

Ryan Garbutt . Who? He scored 1G and added 2A including a +1, 3SOG, 2 Hits and 1 BS. Garbutt plays L4 duties with an average TOI of around 12 minutes per game. He had 10 points in 36 games last year and with this outing is now up to 5 points in 18GP this year. He should finish with around 20 points but only in deep deep leagues that count hits is he worthy of a look.

Antoine Roussel scored 2G to give him 4G and 4A in 23GP. His bread and butter is in the PIM category though as he has 63PIM on the year, good enough for 5th in the league.

Vernon Fiddler doing his best to garner more ice time with 2A and a +2 on the night. He requested to be traded back in early November and with a 1.8mill contract expiring at season's end, I'm not so sure Jim Nill will find a suitor.

Alex Goligoski has been underperforming so far this year and was again held pointless for the fourth straight game here. He did however register 4SOG and 4 Hits while getting the most ice time of anyone with over 22 minutes and the most PP time with over 3 minutes. So it is not for lack of opportunities and one has to think it is only a matter of time before the points start coming.

Alex Chiasson with 1G to go with a +2 on just under 14 minutes TOI. He also received the third most PP time on the team. Last year in 7GP, Chiasson scored 6G and 1A . This year in 23GP he has 7G and 7A and is on pace for 48 points, 60PIMs, 203SOG and 74 Hits while averaging 17 minutes TOI.
