A fantasized look at the injury news on Thursday morning

Doug Pensinger

Vladimir Tarasenko was knocked into next week on a blindside hit by Mark Olver last night. He was a mess as he lay on the ice but was able to skate off on his own and flew home with his teammates last night. Let's say he's out indefinitely and see how he fares over the next few days.

Matt Read left last night's game with a UBI... no update on the severity from the Flyers yet.

Lots of mystery surrounding Rick Nash's "don't call it a concussion" injury. He didn't travel with the team and won't play tonight but could possibly join the team in Montreal and play on Saturday. Ok then.

Appreciate the honesty from Carolina as they announced that Jeff Skinner suffered a concussion and is out indefinitely. That's tough as he missed a chunk of games last year due to a concussion as well.

Good news on Jimmy Howard as his vision issues cleared up and so we'll see if he gets the start tonight.

Milan Hejduk left last night's game early due to a torso injury.

Brandon Dubinsky could miss a week or two with a knee injury he picked up on the weekend.

The update on Marian Hossa's head injury is... there is no update. Maybe today.

Johan Franzen (hip), Joni Pitkanen (LBI), Cam Atkinson (ankle) & Artem Anisimov (foot) are all expected to return from injuries tonight.

Returning to action from the injured list last night: Jaroslav Halak.
