Fantasy Hockey Injury News for Sunday

A fantasized look at some NHL injuries on a Sunday morning.

John E. Sokolowski-USA TODAY Sports

Jack Johnson suffered a shoulder injury during last night's game and the Blue Jackets wasted no time in putting him right onto the IR today. No timetable released yet.

Brent Burns left last night's game in the first period with an undisclosed injury. He did not return. No word on what the injury is or the severity. All the same as Burns has really sucked it up.

Rene Bourque sat out last night with a case of the sniffles. He's questionable to play tomorrow night.

Jeff Skinner skated with the team yesterday and was quoted as saying he felt "a lot better" so that's encouraging.

Evgeni Malkin won't suit up for the Penguins today, but there is some encouraging news here. According to Bylsma he has NOT suffered from headaches or disorientation at any point since he hit his head/neck on the boards. This isn't to say that a concussion has been ruled out, but it seems unlikely if there are no headaches.

The Rangers' blue line is dropping like flies. Michael Del Zotto sat out last night with an apparent hip injury that he suffered in Thursday night's game. He's listed as day-to-day.

Ryan McDonagh left last night's game and didn't return after he was checked face first into the boards by a leaping Max Pacioretty. MaxPac will likely be facing a suspension for this one as he's got a hearing at 4PM EST today. It's not certain if McDonagh has a concussion or just a facial laceration on this one.

Dan Girardi suffered a bone bruise while blocking a shot with his ankle last night. X-rays were negative but it isn't certain how much time he'll miss, if any.

Kevin Bieksa (groin) will not play today. He's day-to-day.

Cam Fowler (UBI) has been cleared to play and should be in the lineup for the Ducks tonight.

Radim Vrbata (LBI) was expected to suit up last night, but ultimately, he decided not to. Guess he needs another game to heal.

Returning to action from the injured: Gabriel Landeskog, Sven Baertschi, Brendan Gallagher, Scott Hartnell
