Fantasy Hockey Injury News for Monday

A fantasized look at the NHL injury news on Monday morning

Martin Brodeur has a sore back and wasn't able to make it through the warm-up yesterday. He sat on the bench, so it wasn't that bad but, I don't know about you, the combo of a 40-year-old goalie and a bad back kinda makes my spidey sense tingle a little.

Pittsburgh is now officially calling Evgeni Malkin's head injury a concussion as he has been suffering from the symptoms since Friday. He won't travel with the team on their three game road trip and should be considered out indefinitely. This is troubling for fantasy GMs who were either counting on him to carry your team or bring in a nice haul at the trade deadline.

The King of the D2D injuries, Martin Hanzal, sat out both of the Coyotes weekend games with a UBI.

David Booth has been back for just three games but is already missing more time... he was ill yesterday and couldn't go.

Jonas Gustavsson is out again (was he ever really back?) due to re-aggravating the groin injury that has kept him out for all but two games this season.

The Leafs say that James Reimer is getting close to returning from his knee injury and there is a possibility that return could come tonight.

Corey Crawford made his first start since returning from his head injury and made it count with a 28 save shutout of the CBJs. I said the other day that I didn't think the Hawks could deny Emery since he was in the zone right now but Crawford may have found a way to prove me wrong with the shutout.

Returning to action from the injured list yesterday: Cam Fowler & Saku Koivu.
