A fantasized look at some NHL injury news on a Thursday morning

Anne-Marie Sorvin-USA TODAY Sports

The big injury news for today surrounds Ryan Kesler as he was spotted wearing an air cast on his foot yesterday. Apparently he broke his foot 3 games ago against the Stars. He'll be out up to 6 weeks. What a tease this guy is.

Andy McDonald was placed on injured reserve with his knee injury and the Blues say he's "week-to-week." It's similar to day-to-day but worse.

Alexander Steen (UBI) gets the day-to-day billing and he might even play tonight.

Michal Neuvirth had to sit out last night with an illness and that's bad timing. Braden Holtby was lit up for four goals before being yanked so Neuvy would have seen some burn.

The Blue Jackets have some timetables for us. The "extended period of time" for James Wisniewski's broken foot is 4-6 weeks while Derick Brassard's UBI should cost him 1-2 weeks.

Sounds like Kari Lehtonen should be good to at least dress tonight as the Stars sent down Cristopher Nilstrop.

Reports are that Scottie Upshall (ankle) may actually play tonight against the Sabres.

Raphael Diaz has suffered a concussion and sat out last night's game. As with every concussion, there's really no telling how long the guy will be out.

Sami Salo has a LBI and has already been ruled out for tonight's game.

Mathieu Perreault left last night's game after taking a big hit. It looked like it could have been knee on knee but no diagnosis has been made yet.

Erik Gustafsson left yesterday's game after blocking a shot and did not return. Consider him day-to-day and questionable to play in the Flyers' next game.

Returning to action from the injured list: Johan Franzen, Brendan Smith, Paul Gaustad
