Fantasy Hockey Injury News for Friday

A fantasized look at some NHL injury news on a Friday morning.

Christian Petersen

Mike Smith was barreled into by Daniel Sedin and then steamrolled by Alexander Edler in the second period. He ultimately had to leave the game at the conclusion of the period with an undisclosed injury. Lets just hope it isn't a concussion as Smith's got a history.

Not an injury but Joffrey Lupul was suspended for two games for his hit on Viktor Hedman so he did not play last night.

Thomas Vanek has a LBI so he missed last night's game, but they're saying there's a shot he could play tomorrow against the Canadiens so fingers crossed.

Evgeni Malkin practiced with teammates yesterday but there's no word on his status for tonight's game. I'd say there's a chance he laces them up.

After playing pretty poorly, Dan Ellis got sliced above the knee and had to leave the game. The severity is not known but being he's a goalie, I'd expect him to miss at least 1 or 2 games.

Anders Lindback has a high ankle sprain and is going to be put on injured reserve. No word on a timetable but you might want to take a look at Cedrick Desjardins.

Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (flu) will play tomorrow versus the Blues.

Tobias Enstrom (shoulder) did not play last night but now that he's shed the non-contact jersey, he should be back any game now.

Rene Bourque was cleared for contact and was a full participant in practice yesterday but did not play. He may be in the lineup tomorrow.

A couple of Canucks forwards, Zack Kassian and Chris Higgins missed last night's game with back issues. They're both listed as day-to-day.

Sergei Gonchar had to come out of the game in the 3rd period last night with an undisclosed injury. Paul MacLean didn't think it was a serious injury so there's the good news.

Marc Methot missed last night's game with a knee injury but he's already listed as "probable" to play tomorrow.

Alexei Ponikarovsky didn't lace them up for the Devils last night. He's listed as day-to-day with a LBI.

Returning to action from the injured: David Krejci, Martin Brodeur, Radim Vrbata, Mike Green, Philip Larsen, Andrei Loktionov, Matt Carkner, Michael Grabner, Mike Lundin
