A fantasized look at the injury news on Monday morning

USA TODAY Sports

Dr. Lou's diagnosis on Ilya Kovalchuk's shoulder injury points to no surgery and being out 2-4 weeks. Recall his whole episode with Brodeur where he insisted it wasn't a setback, it was just going to take longer than they thought for him to come back... yeah, so I don't really trust this guy.

Evgeni Malkin (shoulder) & Kris Letang (LBI) both took the morning skate yesterday but were unable to play last night. The Pens are listing them as day-to-day right now and it seems like both will return shortly.

Danny Briere was hurt by friendly fire in practice on Saturday and couldn't play last night due to a UBI. He's out day-to-day and given his struggles, he could probably use the breather.

The Avs lost both Paul Stastny (foot) and Ryan Wilson (ankle) during last night's game. Stastny took a shot off the foot and will be re-evaluated today. Wilson has been fighting an ankle injury all year and likely aggravated the injury, so he could be out a while.

Eric Fehr left last night's game for the Caps with a UBI... no word on the extent.

Ron Hainsey couldn't go last night for the Jets due to a hand injury, he's day-to-day.

Word on John-Michael Liles is a sprained ankle and he'll miss a couple of games, at least.

Returning to action from the injured list last night: Tobias Enstrom & Gabriel Landeskog.
