Fantasy Hockey Injury News for Monday

A fantasized look at some NHL injury news on a Monday morning.

USA TODAY Sports

Cam Ward had to leave the game in the 2nd period last night after being involved with a collision. Early guesses are not very optimistic but we'll wait for some form of official word before we jump to conclusions.

The diagnosis is not a good one for Jose Theodore as it was revealed that he has a torn groin. It's not clear whether or not he'd opt for surgery but I'd bet dollars to doughnuts that he won't be back this season.

Dmitry Kulikov couldn't give it a go last night and the Panthers placed him on IR with the UBI he suffered on Saturday. Make sure he's not in your lineup if you're in a weekly change league.

Brad Richards went face first into the boards after taking a cheap hit from loser Patrick Kaleta. He looked dazed as he laid on the ice but managed to skate off under his own power straight to the locker room. He actually made it back shortly after and participated in the ensuing 5 minute powerplay so sounds like he'll be fine.

Nikita Nikitin had to leave yesterday's game with a UBI. He's considered day-to-day for now.

Kevin Bieksa (groin) couldn't suit up for the Canucks last night and I'd imagine they'll give him a few more games off considering this was a re-aggravation.

Another game missed for Thomas Vanek with that undisclosed injury but the Sabres are downplaying the severity saying he'll be back any day now.

Taylor Hall (leg) was hopeful to get into last night's game but ultimately he sat it out. I'd expect him back next game for the Oilers.

Milan Michalek was hopeful to get into one of the Senators games this weekend but that didn't end up happening. Wednesday is the new hopeful day, now.

Chad LaRose is the newest concussion victim as he must have suffered one at some point during Saturday's game. No word on a timetable yet.
